Scholarship Opportunities

PBVM Catholic School supporters offer several different scholarships:

  • Jerry Mapes Memorial Scholarship
    The Jerry Mapes Perpetual Memorial Scholarship Award is an annual award presented to a graduating PBVM boy who has been accepted into Jesuit High School. This scholarship fund was established by the Mapes family in 1981 following the death of their son, Jerry, who was a graduate of PBVM and Jesuit High School. It is awarded for outstanding Christian behavior, academic excellence, community service, and with consideration for financial need  The student is chosen by the 8th grade teacher and the principal.

  • Miss Michelle Scholarship
    This is an annual scholarship in memory of Michelle Devincenzi, our long time school secretary. Miss Michelle passed away August 18, 2008. The scholarship fund was established by the Devincenzi Family to assist a currently enrolled PBVM School student and continue the tradition and values that reflect Miss Michelle’s contribution to PBVM School. 
    • The main criteria are:

      • Current seventh grade student going into eighth grade at PBVM
      • Academic achievement
      • Community service orientated
      • Reverent/participatory in Mass

  • Altar Service Scholarship 
         This new scholarship is given to two outstanding Altar Server and Altar Society participants.  The main criteria are reverence and responsibility for all things sacred to the Mass.                        
   

  • Faculty Scholarship  
    • High GPA grades 6-8
    • Outstanding citizenship
    • High Standardized Testing scores 
    • This scholarship goes to one boy and one girl in the graduating class



  • Mission Effectiveness Award/Scholarship  
          This award is given to the two students who receive top honors in the culminating "Mission Effectiveness" project for graduating 8th graders; scholarship money is given if either student attends a Catholic high school.
 
  • Academic Achievement Award/Scholarship
          This award is given to the two students in 8th grade with the highest GPA; scholarship money is given if either student attends a Catholic high school.         

  • Dominican Award
    This award was founded in 2012 in honor of The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, who actively participate in the catechetical formation of our families and directly participate as teachers in the education of students at PBVM School. It is awarded to a PBVM sixth grade student who embodies the ideals of the Dominican way of life, demonstrates a life of virtuous behavior, has solid grades and exemplary citizenship.  If you feel called to donate to this scholarship, please contact the school office.
  • Paul & Josephine Van Coutren Scholarship
Founded in 2016-2017 by the generosity of Rita Hauf and family, this scholarship is in memory of her parents who were dedicated to the support of Catholic education.  This scholarship is awarded to a graduating eighth grade student who is not only dedicated to core studies, but one who also loves the arts.  He/she will be attending a Catholic high school.
